Everyone knows that “from little things, big things grow” – and nowhere will that be truer than at The Glades at Byford.
The Glades will grow to become the largest new master-planned community in the south-eastern corridor of Perth.
It will eventually be home to 10,000 people, with a village centre, a primary school, a proposed Catholic Kindergarten to Year 12 school and a senior high school. It offers a diverse range of homesites to suit everyone from singles to families and empty nesters, creating a thriving community.
At the heart of everything will be the village centre, a rich and vibrant setting for local interaction. It will be somewhere to drop in for a quick catch-up over coffee or to pick up a few last-minute things for lunch. Because it has been designed as an intimate neighbourhood, the village centre will be within easy reach of every one of the 3,500 homesites, never more than a 15 minute stroll away.
The Glades takes its name from the two natural creeks that form the basis of the long corridors of parkland at the heart of the development. These "glades" of parkland will feature walking and cycling paths as well as activity stations dotted throughout. Percy's Adventure Playground, the first of these special activity areas, was opened in May 2010.
More than 10% of The Glades will be public open space, with corridors of natural pathways and cycle routes integrating everything both within The Glades and with Byford Town Centre.
The natural environment has been considered in every aspect of the design, from the retention of existing trees, enhancing the natural waterways to provide a habitat for local fauna and embracing the latest technology in water sensitive urban design.
Residents at The Glades are eligible to receive a subsidy of 50% off a 2.5kL rainwater tank plumbed for use into the laundry and toilet. Water savings from the tank are approximately 44,000L per household per year. Along with a water wise Eco-logical front landscaping package. Your front garden will be designed in consultation with a specialist landscape designer who is conversant with current landscape designs utilising low water usage WA plants.
