Arts & Produce Markets
The Glades Arts & Produce Markets are held on the third Saturday of the month. In winter we go inside and in the hot months, we have moonlight markets. Generally 100+ stalls with a huge variety of fresh and local produce, locally produced arts and crafts. Additionally, we have entertainment during the day, kids activities and more. The next Arts & Produce Market at The Glades is being held on April 20th.

Community Projects and School Holiday Workshops
The Glades have a community development partnership between AWESOME Arts and LWP Property Group. The AWESOME partnership aims to chart new ways of thinking about arts development and community empowerment and encourages homeowners to take stewardship of their community.
AWESOME provides an integrated program of arts activities including sculpture, filmmaking, photography, voice/sound, visual arts and even radio broadcasting.
All projects are developed using LWP’s concept of creating healthy and sustainable communities, with an emphasis on conservation and the natural ecology of the area.
This unique approach to community art aspires to build social networks and instill a sense of place for residents in a rapidly growing new development.
Regular School Holiday workshops are held for The Glades. For more information, please contact Amanda Rowe on 9328 9666 or email communityarts@awesomearts.com.
The next School Holiday workshops are scheduled for April. Join AWESOME Artist Kate Page to imagine, design and create wonderful artworks that represent 'light'.

The Glades Community
At LWP we don't develop land – we build communities. We create better places to live, work and play. We do this by starting with a vision for a community. We identify the needs and wants of the people who will one day live in that community – young and the old, married and single, children and families.
We assess what needs are already met locally and which ones we will need to address. From there we begin to create our Community Development Plan. At the heart of all our Community Development Plans are a number of principles.
A joint initiative between LWP and the YMCA, a Community Development Officer works to link our new community with the existing Byford township, by bringing new residents together with established community and sporting groups, whilst also identifying new facilities and services required by the growing community at The Glades.
A busy calendar of regular events is already underway, designed to bring people together, especially in the early days of the community.

Super Saturday, 20 April 2013
The largest release of homesites ever at The Glades was held on Saturday, 20 April which attracted campers the day before, keen to secure on of the 40 homesites.
Super Saturday was a success reporting sales of 16 of the 40 homesites. Super Saturday coincided with The Glades Arts & Produce Market which attracted a huge crowd of over 2,000 marketgoers. Entertainment was provided by Slim Jim & The Phatts including face painting, bouncy castle and arts and crafts activities for the kids.
Those who signed up to LWP's Advantage Club on the day were entered into a draw to win a share of $10,000 in prizes, with 20 people walking away with prizes ranging from iPads, DVD recorders, cameras, kitchen appliances and Dyson vacuum cleaners.
The Glades at Byford is EnviroDevelopment Certified
The Glades at Byford has become the first development in Western Australia to achieve certification in three categories in the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s EnviroDevelopment program. The Glades has achieved certification in the Ecosystems, Water and Community categories of the program, which assesses the sustainability credentials of a development.
The major concept behind the development was to embrace the semi-rural town character of the Byford area and integrate this new development with sensibility, charm and key sustainability features.
Amongst the outstanding community initiatives, The Glades Arts & Produce Market which is held every month features around 80 stalls selling everything from unique & original hand crafted arts and crafts to fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables. This is a fantastic initiative which fosters the growth of the community and helps build meaningful relationships whilst providing an opportunity for informal employment.
Targets have been set for water efficiency across the development through the effective native landscaping of Public Open Spaces, waterwise front landscaping packages and rainwater tanks which will be plumbed internally into the dwellings to contribute towards reducing the overall dependence on potable water.
Of the key ecosystems achievements, the natural waterways will be enhanced throughout the development - with the protection of Cardup Brook and retention of minor creek lines which will provide key environmental features with recreational and visual amenity.
